About us

Introduction

The Lybster & Tannach Fund is a community benefit fund that supports non‑formal learning opportunities for individuals, groups and organisations living or working within the Lybster and Tannach Community Council areas.

The Fund exists to help people of all ages access learning, skills, creativity and shared experiences that strengthen community life.

What We Support

We fund non‑formal education and learning activities. Non‑formal learning is learning that happens outside of schools, colleges and formal qualifications. It is often community‑based, practical, creative, and led by people’s interests.

Non‑formal education can:

  • build confidence and life skills
    support wellbeing and social connection
    encourage creativity and curiosity
help people learn together in informal settings

What is NonFormal Learning?

Non‑formal learning is flexible, inclusive and community‑led learning that takes place outside formal education settings. It can be short‑term or ongoing, structured or informal, and is often delivered by local groups, volunteers or organisations.

Examples include:

  • workshops and short courses
  • youth clubs and after‑school activities
  • creative and cultural projects
  • community events with learning elements
  • skill‑sharing and mentoring opportunities
